The St James Anglican Church, Kununurra is part of the Parish of Kununurra and the Diocese of North West Australia. The first Anglican services in Kununurra were held by visiting ministers, after the town was born in 1961 as a result of the Ord River Scheme. The first resident minister arrived in 1965, but was unable to reside in the town for 9 months until the rectory was completed. The present St James church building was constructed through the work of the Outback Church Foundation, and opened in 1990. A Sunday School room was added in 2008.
