The Guildford Wesley Chapel is part of the Uniting Church Synod of Western Australia. The present church building was opened on 21/8/1883. It replaced an earlier chapel, which had been erected in 1856 at another location, near the railway station, but which was resumed in 1883 to allow expansion of the railways. Methodist services began in Guildford in 1837, with early services held in private homes, open air or the Court House prior to the building of the first chapel in 1856. A larger church building was erected next to the present chapel in 1897, but it was damaged by an earthquake in 1941, and services were relocated to the original chapel. The 1897 structure has since been demolished. [Sourced from: https://ucwa.org.au/guildford/about-us/]. More historical information/photographs of the chapel/congregation are invited.
