The Our Lady Help of Christians/Star of the Sea Catholic Church is a Mass Centre & Priory for the Society of Saint Pius X, which sits outside the formal Catholic Church. It was founded on 1/11/1970 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, in response to requests of young men interested in a traditional priestly formation. Eleven young men began their studies under the archbishop at a new seminary in Econe, Switzerland. Only Latin rite of Mass permitted. "Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was a man of the Church, missionary, founder of the SSPX, - a man who helped preserve the tradition of the Church after Vatican II." [Sourced from: https://sspx.com.au/en/about/history - this site contains much more of the story]. The building was formerly owned by St Hugh's Church of England. It was constructed of timber in 1915, with external brick cladding added in 1977. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/5/2022.
