A stone tablet records: Church of The Holy Cross - Dedicated - to the Honour and Glory of God - by His Lordship - Most Rev L J Goody DD PhD -  Bishop of Bunbury - Passion Sunday 31st March 1963 [ tablet is no longer mounted on the church, it is now on display at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Esperance.]

A notice on display in the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Esperance records:  Relic of Holy - Cross - This unique cross was crafted out of Salmon Gums timber to commemorate the church built in Salmon Gums in 1963. - The  title of this church was the 'Holy Cross'. Due to structural issues of the building, the church was no longer safe and regrettably, was closed - The relics of the Holy Cross in the middle of this unique cross were honoured and venerated in the Church in Salmon Gums for many years. Originally, these relics came from the Basilica of Santa Croce in Rome. This cross was installed in our church in 2022.

The former Church of the Holy Cross, Salmon Gums was opened in 1963, but due to structural issues was closed about 2020. The church was part of the Parish of Esperance and the Diocese of Bunbury. The relics held in the church are now located at Esperance. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 18/5/2024.
